This past Thursday evening Meagan Barnard held her benefit ‘The Sky’s the Limit” with incredible success and support from her family, friends and community. Meagan raised $3,045.71 that will go to the Lymphatic Research Foundation to help in the cause to find a cure.

I have to tell you that after talking with Meagan, her family and friends and seeing first-hand the determination that she has, I know that is only the starting point for Meagan and her fight for this very serious and worthwhile cause.

Throughout the entire process, from the very first time I talked to Meagan back in September of 2008, until today, she has inspired even more to do what I can with Cast Clothing to help as many people as I can who live with Lymphedema and other conditions that affect their limbs to take away the self-consciousness they feel and the difficulty in finding clothes to fit over their affected limb or limbs and give back the diginity that we all deserve.

Meagan, words can not express enough how proud I am of you and how excited I am for you for what you have accomplished, not only for yourself personally, but for the awareness of Lymphedema in your community. I look forward to continuing to work with you in making fashionable adaptive clothing for all the young “Meagan’s” ( and the boy’s too) out there who share your cause and concerns.

If you would like to make a donation to the “Sky’s the Limit” please contact us at Limitless@CastClothingCo.com for more information. All proceeds raised will go to the Lymphatic Research Foundation with the goal that we will be able to help in finding a cure.

Congratulations Meagan! You are a remarkable and inspirational person!

In a recent posting here in our blog I introduced you all to Meagan Barnard, a Senior at Superior High School in Superior, Wisconsin. Meagan has Primary Lymphedema Praecox. For her senior project Meagan created a magazine called Limitless, to help those with conditions or disabilities to see that you can do whatever you put our mind to regardless of our condition or disability.

I am very excited to be able be involved with and to announce that Meagan is going to be holding a benefit and Fundraiser to raise awareness for Lymphedema and in finding a cure. Over 10 million people in the United States live with this condition which to date has no cure. All proceeds from the magazine and the fundraiser will be donated to the Lymphatic Research Foundation so that one day these brave individuals will have a cure for this condition once and for all!

Here’s the details:

“Sky’s the Limit”

Any help would be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in finding a cure.

We are looking forward to making this the first of many event s to come to help to raise awareness for such a great cause and to help to be able to find a cure for this incredible life altering condition.

This past Friday night I had a great conversation with Carol B. regarding adaptive and accessible clothing for the developmentally disabled and she provided some great feedback to me regarding the need for the products we offer and that the market just does not know we are here, and how right she is. I am really looking forward to talking to her further.

What Carol said goes back to why I started this blog, to get the word out through the organizations and individuals that either live with a condition or who help those who live with one, to let them know that even though the economy has its problems and stores and manufacturing are cutting back, one thing is for sure, that I will not stop reaching out to help as many as I can to provide them with a clothing product that meets their specific need or needs and that will allow them to dress and feel great about themselves just as those of us without a need. It’s all about dignity and feeling good about ones-self.

I am very excited about where Cast Clothing is headed, we are poised to be the first one out of the starting block when the economic woes start to clear up, and I am very optimistic that it is going to happen soon!

Thanks to all of you who spread the word about Cast Clothing and the work we are doing, I sincerely appreciate everything you are doing for us!

I have been reading various opinions about the fashion/clothing industry lately with the economy being the way it has been and the one thing I keep seeing still is that the focus is on the existing clothing lines and how to get the same people to continue to buy those products. Yet I don’t see any talk about the disabled or condition specific and clothing for them or from my standpoint, you! I want to know your thoughts, I have my opinions and thoughts (that’s why I started Cast Clothing) and I am very interested in learning yours.

I have had many people, including potential investors ask if there is really a market for the adaptive clothing products we are making. Please help me to tell them just how much of a market and need really exists.

Please tell me what you think about this.

I was talking to a client on Friday and he had asked me if what is on our website is all that we offer, a great question and worthy of comment.

The clothing you see is a basic line of clothing that we offer as we work to establish what types and styles people are looking for, if you don’t see something please ask, for example our youth section is very limited on the web store, however I can get what ever you want. That goes for every category of clothing that is available. I want you to tell me what you want to wear, I don’t ever want to tell you what you have to wear by offering limited selections.

Keep the questions and comments coming so I know how I can be of assistance to you. Thank you!

...an incredible young woman battling a disease who decided to reach out and help others in her same situation.

I have to introduce all of you to Meagan Barnard, an incredible young woman battling a disease who decided to reach out and help others in her same situation. Meagan became affected with Lymphedema during her freshman year in high school and I had the great pleasure to meet when Meagan sent me an email to point out (she was frustrated) that I didn’t have clothing for girls (and boys) her age who also live with this condition(and she was right), I tracked her down and we talked (to her parents too) and we hit it off immediately and I am very excited to have her as part of our team to help to reach out to every person who lives with Lymphedema and every other type of condtion or disability to let them you know that they do have options when it comes to everyday, fashionable clothing, especially jeans.

Take a look at Meagan’s story at the following link: http://www.northlandsnewscenter.com/news/local/37421284.html?video=YHI&t=a

Watch for Meagan to appear on the Cast Clothing website(www.castclothingco.com) with her own page where you, your kids or those you may know who live with this or any condition. You will be able to interact with her, share conversation, tips and create a social network where you can all help each other. I promise you that we are going to make this an incredible and invaluable networking avenue for everyone!

Remember for Meagan it started out with a pair of pants!

I am very excited to get this blog up and running so that I can hear from you directly about your individual needs when it comes to Adaptive and Custom-made Adaptive Clothing.

Oh but before we get to that, I am Mike Harding, the owner and President of The Cast Clothing Co, we provide fashionable, everyday adaptive and custom-made adaptive clothing for individuals who may live with one of a variety of conditions that affects their limbs, whether temporary or permanent, and what they can wear. There is no reason why living with a condition to your limb should hold you back from going about your daily routine, I developed Cast Clothing to accommodate the clothing needs of people who have have always found it hard to wear clothing due to their individual, specific condition. Our goal is to take away the self-consciousness that many people with conditions live with and to return the dignity to ones life that we all deserve. (Side note: I prefer to use “condition specific” rather than “disability”, so when possible I will)

Ok, enough about me, (I can get into more if you want so just let me know) I want to know more about you and what your needs are. This blog is to do just that, a place where we can all share the trials and tribulations, frustrations and joys that you may go through on a daily basis when it comes to clothing, dressing and/or finding clothing that actually fits you and your specific need and to create an atmosphere where we can help each other. Of course this goes without saying, let’s all be respectful of the others who are here with us.

So whether you may have a broken arm or leg and wear a cast, brace or compression wrap, live with Lymphedema or wear a prosthesis, use a wheel/mobility chair, have diabetes, Military men or women who have returned with an injury that affects how you now live your life , or have any other condition or disability that affects your limb or limbs, I invite you to share that with us.

In this blog I am going to share stories, news bits, articles, upcoming events that we will be participating in, helpful links, and just about anything else I can find that will be of some help to you. I am going to ask professional’s from various organizations, companies, hospitals, rehabilitation specialists and just about anyone else you may want to hear from to join us. With my goal to have Cast Clothing be the most complete, one-stop adaptive clothing and accessory company out there, I want this site to be the most complete and informative adaptive site on the web.

Thank you for joining us and lets get this party started…..
